Good morning, Leeds. Welcome to our weekly round-up of the best of the city’s blogs.
The issue of an elected mayor in Leeds was hotly debated all yesterday via the #leeds mayor hashtag on Twitter. Phil Kirby at The Culture Vulture has his take here while the Guardian Norterner carries a fabulous (ahem!) report here. I guess a tweet from @culturevultures sums the situation up nicely:
“I can’t quite express the jumble of thoughts in my head from my recent foray into the #LeedsMayor stuff. But one thing lacking seems ‘hope’”
On other blogs…
Darren Cronian, of My Life in Leeds fame, is working on an exciting new initiative called Leeds Locals. It’s only in ‘beta’ at the moment, but it picks out blogposts from hyperlocal bloggers across the city. Check it out here and see what you think.
A Right Royal Treat awaits you in Chapel Allerton later this summer as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, reports About My Area LS7.
The Old Inns and Pubs of Leeds by Barrie Pepper is reviewed by Alex over at Exploring Leeds blog.
“How proud to be British can 2012′s Jubilee and Olympics make you feel when we can’t look after the most vulnerable!” Asks rough sleepers organisation Simon on the Streets in their blog.
That’s it for our short but sweet round-up this week. Post any links to stories or blogs I may have missed in the comments section below. If you’d like to be included in this round-up, pop your details below.
